The Western Cape. Africa’s wine capital - and the place where one of the seeds of Atelier Bogoria was planted. It was in Bot River when the essence of winemaking revealed itself to me. Marelise Niemann poured her Momento wines and her love for Grenache - an elegant grape that draws deep from its roots and tells the story of place. It thrives in South Africa’s dry climate.Then there’s Maanschijn - the heart and soul of Paul Mylrea and Doug Hoogwerf - bottling the spirit of the coastal Walker Bay. Whenever I was around, they’d always make time for a tasting at their iconic red-roofed farmhouse at Maanschijnkop, even mid-harvest. Now, you’ll be able to taste the Cape yourself - through the bottles of Marelise, Paul & Doug.
